1.6 HDi 110hp
a series of problems

Carbonized oil in a diesel engine is nothing new. But this engine's oil sucker and turbo oil supply screw have been a source of trouble. Come and discover this and other problems that plague the 1.6 HDi of 110hp.

Comecemos pelo início: Os analisadores de fluxo são equipamentos caros mas cruciais para garantir o bom desempenho e durabilidade dum turbo VNT (com geometria variável). Qualquer bom reparador turbo tem este equipamento e faz uso dele e da sua base de dados. Na sua base de dados o turbo "x" tem "x" fluxo a diferentes rotações e é por esses valores que nós reparadores nos regemos.

The small metal mesh would later be replaced by a larger plastic mesh that would guarantee an adequate supply of oil.

Another less common but equally serious problem appeared later. Originating from the injectors that let compression from the cylinder to the oil circuit, the oil sucker in the crankcase clogs, severely restricting the flow of oil.
Replacing the injector and replacing or cleaning the oil circuit solves and prevents future problems.

Still on the turbo but already out of the lubrication problems the design flaws remain. Despite the various version revisions made to the turbo GT1544v 753420, none solved its Achilles heel. Having no design obligations with the brand, after-market turbo repair shops rushed to change the geometry of the turbo, which is originally weak and prone to constant failures with terminal consequences for the turbo.

Consultando os nossos manuais de reparação verificamos que as versões 1,2,3 e 5 usam uma geometria de 1ª geração, com 9 alhetas.

As versões 4,6,7,9,10,12,13 e 15 usam uma geometria de 2ª geração com 11 alhetas. 

Diferentes geometrias têm diferentes valores de fluxo. Era impossível que estes turbos internamente diferentes partilhassem valores de fluxo como constatado na base de dados da bancada de fluxo. Através da nossa rede conseguimos um turbo com a geometria de 1ª geração que foi manualmente adicionado à nossa base de dados.

Along with other minor changes to the turboshaft and turbine, the NCturbo version of the GT1544v is technically superior to the original and has proven to be extremely reliable while still achieving similar levels of performance.
